Egle set the start record in the first heat with a 7.493, and was quicker than any women’s singles slider ever in Oberhof all the way down on her way to a track record 41.505 downtime. Taubitz was next and tried to answer, but came down .189 behind the Austrian. That was enough for third behind both Egle and Switzerland’s Natalie Maag, who had put down a very clean run to slide to second place.

In the second heat Taubitz did answer, her second heat time was only .031 off of Egle’s first run downtime and enough to both take the lead from teammate Merle Fräbel, but hold off Maag. The Swiss slider couldn’t match her first heat effort, but was still quick enough over two runs to place herself securely on the podium with only Egle still to go.

Egle was one again quick off the top, and at one intermediate split was over three tenths ahead of Taubitz. Egle came back to Taubitz through the bottom part of the course where Taubitz was best, but had more than enough in the bank from her first run to win, with the margin of victory .113.

The win for Egle was her fourth, while the silver for Taubitz was her fifth medal on the season.

For Maag, the bronze medal was her first in a two-heat race since winning bronze in St. Moritz during the 2020/2021 season.

Fräbel was fourth, Lisa Schulte fifth, and Anna Berreiter sixth.

Ashley Farquharson led the way for the United States in seventh, up from ninth in the first heat. Summer Britcher had some issues in her first heat, but had a top ten run in her second to slide to 15th, while Emma Erickson was 28th.

Canada placed Trinity Ellis in the top 20 in 17th. Caitlin Nash missed out on a second run by .038 and finished 21st, while Embyr-Lee Susko was 24th, just ahead of Ireland’s Elsa Desmond in 25th.

With her win, Madeleine Egle opened up a 29 point lead over Julia Taubitz in the season standings. Lisa Schulte has been in the top five every race this season and is third, with Merle Fräbel fourth and Anna Berreiter fifth.
