Junior world champion Francesco Friedrich will go into Sunday as the leader in the FIBT World Championships. Two dominating runs leave the German .35 ahead of home-field slider Beat Hefti. American defending world champion Steven Holcomb will go into Day 2 in third, but has a lot of work to do, .77 back of the lead, and .42 behind Hefti. Alexander Zubkov came into the second heat tied with Holcomb, but was out-driven at the bottom of the track and is .03 behind the American. Canadian Chris Spring put together two very solid runs and will go into Sunday in fifth.
Another very fast and clean run for American Cory Butner, and he moves up to seventh going into the third heat, while teammate Nick Cunningham also picks up one spot to 13th. Cunningham is just .14 out of a top 10. Canadians Lyndon Rush and Justin Kripps are 10th and 11th and inching closer to putting all three Canadian sleds in the top 10.
