From Lake Placid, USA
(January 24, 2025) – Geoff Gadbois and Kris Horn have spent the 2024/2025 North American Cup two-man bobsled season neck-and-neck in the standings, and came into the season finale separated by just 18 points with Gadbois holding the advantage.
And as close as it had been all season, it made sense that the two American teammates found themselves tied for the race lead after one heat in the finale. Youngjin Suk was third, only .15 back. Horn needed both to out-slide Gadbois in the second heat and have Suk overtake Gadbois to clinch the title.
But that’s not how it worked out.
In the second heat Gadbois and brakeman Martin Christofferson out-pushed Horn and Hunter Powell by .03 in the second heat, and Gadbois out-drove Horn by .17 on his way to victory both in the race and in the season two-man standings.
Horn took silver, and Suk and Jonghee Park bronze.
Edson Bindilatti and Edson Martins were fourth, AJ Edelman and Regnars Kirejevs fifth, and Koki Matsuoka and Naoki Kariya sixth.
Grady Mercer and Nate Breaud fell from fifth to seventh in the second heat, ahead of Caanda’s Cyrus Gray and Chris Holmstead in eighth, and USA’s Shane Fisher and Trevor Chase in ninth.
The season standings shook out with Gadbois winning by 28 points over Horn. Bindilatti finished the season in third, just four points ahead of Edelman, who finished the season fourth.
