(January 23, 2025) – Kris Horn came from behind to win gold ahead of teammate Geoff Gadbois in the penultimate race of the 2024/2025 North American Cup two-man season.
Horn and Hakeem Abdul-Saboor trailed Gadbois and Bryce Cheek by .02 after one run. In third, .37 back was South Korea’s Youngjin Suk, with the remainder of the field over a half second back.
In the second heat Suk slid to the lead, well ahead of Edson Bindilatti with the two Americans to go.
Horn was next. He and Abdul-Saboor set the quick start of the race, and Horn slid to what would be the quickest time of the heat to take the lead by .62 over the Koreans with just Gadbois still to go.
Gadbois and Cheek were out-started by .05 off the top, but were neck-and-neck with Horn midway through their run. But some late issues for Gadbois set him back and he crossed the finish line .47 back, with Horn taking gold.
It was Horn’s fourth straight victory in two-man, ahead of Gadbois in all four races.
Suk and Hyunwoo Jung were third, ahead of Bindilatti and Edson Martins in fourth. Canada’s Jay Dearborn and Kenny-Luketa M’Pindou were fifth, and AJ Edelman and Regnars Kirejevs sixth.
With one race to go in the 2024/2025 North American Cup season, Gadbois and Horn are one-two, with 18 points the difference. Bindilatti is third.
