From Lake Placid, USA
(January 23, 2025) – Erica Voss slid to gold for the third time in the 2024/2025 IBSF North American Cup monobob season, as she edged out teammate Kristen Bujnowski for the win.
The two Canadians slid to a healthy lead over anyone else in the field in the first heat, with Voss ahead of Bujnowski by .19 and ahead of South Korea’s Yooran Kim in third by .57.
In the second heat Bujnowski matched her race-quickest start with a 5.91 second push, and slid to what would be the quickest run of the heat, well over a full second ahead of anyone else.
Voss’s second push was .14 slower than Bujnowski’s, which gave her only a .05 advantage off the top. Voss had another smooth slide, not enough to have the quick time of the heat, but still enough to stay ahead of Bujnowski by just .04 for gold.
Voss’s victory gave her a win on all three North American Cup tracks this season, while Bujnowski’s silver was her sixth straight. The duo have gone one-two in six of seven races on the season.
Kim was third, 1.32 behind Voss, and .33 ahead of USA’s Riley Tejcek in fourth. Taiwan’s Sin-Rong Lin was fifth, and Latvia’s Amelija Kotane sixth.
With one race to go in the season, Erica Voss holds a commanding lead over Kristen Bujnowski in the North American Cup standings. She’ll need to simply finish in the final race of the season to win the season title.
