From Park City, USA
(January 19, 2025) – Kendall Wesenberg’s perfect return continued in Park City with another gold medal with the quick run in both heats.
Wesenberg was the first slider off in the first heat and set a time of 49.80, .07 ahead of Kellie Delka and well over three quarters of a second ahead of anyone else.
In the second heat Delka took the lead handily from China’s Yanqi Zu, after the United States’ Sha’Londa Terry had trouble in her second run.
Wesenberg was the last off the top. Her second start was .04 faster than her first, and her second slide nearly matched her first effort as she finished over a half of a second ahead of Delka for her sixth straight gold.
Delka took silver, nearly a full second ahead of Zhu, who won bronze.
GuanshuoWang was fourth, .46 behind her teammate. Laura Vargas and Katie Tannenbaum rounded out the top six.
The United States finished in seventh through ninth, with Hannah Gaskins edging out Liesel Baker by a hundredth of a second. Terry finished ninth after a disastrous second run.
Logan Wudi was 11th as the final American in the field.
Great Britain’s Leah Kidd was 10th, two spots ahead of Isabella Fassnidge who moved up from 13th to 12th in the second heat.
Vietnam’s Khanh Nguyen was 14th, ahead of Canadian Mackenzie Adams in 15th.
With two races to go on the IBSF North American Cup, Kendall Wesenberg holds a commanding lead and can clinch the season title early with a decent finish in her next race in Lake Placid. Katie Tannenbaum is second, ten points ahead of Laura Vargas in third. USA’s Hannah Gaskins, Sha’Londa Terry ,Liesel Baker, and Logan Wudi round out the top seven.
