From Lillehammer, NOR
(January 17, 2025) – Maureen Zimmer slid to her second straight monobob victory to start the 2024/2025 season, ahead of Czechia’s Patricia Tajcnarova.
Zimmer led Tajcnarova by just .06 after the first heat, with the remainder of the field at least .46 back.
In the second heat the Czech slider mustered what would be the fifth quickest slide of the heat, still enough to take the lead with only Zimmer to go.
Zimmer’s second slide, while slower than her first, was still more than enough to take gold by nearly a half of a second over Tajcnarova, with Germany’s Charlotte Candrix in third, .66 off the pace.
The gold for Zimmer was her sixth in Europe Cup monobob action. For Tajcnarova, the silver was a career-best.
Switzerland’s Inola Blatty was fourth, ahead of Denmark’s Maja Voigt in fifth.
Selina Isler rounded out the top six.
Italy’s Simona de Silvestro was seventh, one spot ahead of Spain’s Leanna Garcia in eighth.
Mica Moore made her debut for Jamaica in ninth place.
