From Park City, USA
(January 12, 2025) – Geoff Gadbois slid to a NAC four-man victory in Park City, his first victory in exactly six years in the discipline.
Youngjin Suk took the lead early on in the one-heat race from the second starting spot. His 48.12 held for eight sleds until Gadbois took off from the tenth starting spot. His team gave him the second quickest push of the competition as he slid to a .14 second lead over Suk.
Up next was Brazil’s Edson Bindilatti. His team was out-pushed by just .02. Bindilatti kept it close to the American, but was out-driven at the bottom of the track by just .12 to move into second with a handful of sleds to go.
Kris Horn, a multi-time winner in the discipline this season, was next. Horn’s team was the quickest off the top and Horn was ahead early on. His bottom half of his run was a little slower than Gadbois, and he crossed the finish line in fourth place, only .06 behind Suk.
From there, neither Cyrus Gray or Gustavo dos Santos Ferreira could contend for the lead, as they fell into sixth and 11th, respectively.
Gadbois’ victory came six years to the day from his last victory, a gold medal in Calgary on January 12, 2019.
Just off of the podium, Horn took fourth, ahead of Jay Dearborn in fifth, and Gray in sixth.
With two races to go in the 2024/2025 North American Cup season, Edson Bindilatti leads Cyrus Gray and Jay Dearborn. Kris Horn and Geoff Gadbois, winners of the last four races betwen them, are fourth and fifth.
