2013 FIBT World Championships – Women’s Bobsled – Heat 1

From St. Moritz, Switzerland

The 2013 World Championships kicked off with a bang for Kaillie Humphries.  The Olympic and defending world champion slowly pulled away from the field on her way down the mile plus track, and will go into the second heat .12 ahead of everyone else.

Elana Meyers and Katie Eberling set the fast start time with a 5:50, which coupled with a near-flawless drive put the American team in second behind the Canadians.  The next three sleds are all German, with Schneiderheinze, Martini and Kirasis rounding out the top 5.

Jazmine Fenlator makes it two sleds in the top 10 for the USA, while Jamie Gruebel sits 13th, only .05 out of 11th.  Jennifer Ciochetti is 18th after her first World Championships heat as a pilot for Canada.  Paula Walker leads the way for Great Britain in 12th, just .01 ahead of Greubel, while Victoria Olaoye and Mica McNeill sit 19th and 21st.
