Beat Hefti won the two-man competition yesterday, but will go into the second four-man heat third, with two German sleds ahead of him. Max Arndt leads Thomas Florschuetz by .01 and Hefti by .1. The third German sled, piloted by Manuel Machata, sits fourth, just ahead of the Alexander Zubkov piloted Russia I sled. It’s .17 from Arndt back to Zubkov. Great Britain’s John Jackson has appeared to overcome a dismal two-man day, and is sixth going into the final heat.
Another slower run by the Americans. Steven Holcomb had a clean run, but the speed just wasn’t there. Holcomb will go into the second heat 16th, while teammate Nick Cunningham is 19th. Cory Butner misses the second heat in 23rd.
The Canadian teams haven’t been able to replicate yesterday’s two-man success. Lyndon Rush is 7th going into Heat 2, but Justin Kripps and Chris Spring both will miss the second heat, getting credit for 22nd and 24th, respectively. John Jackson’s teammate, Lamin Deen, will see his first second heat this season, going into it in 18th.
