From Park City, USA
(January 8, 2025) – Kristen Bujnowski slid to her second gold medal of the 2024/2025 IBSF North American Cup monobob season as she won handily ahead of teammate Erica Voss.
Riley Tejcek was the first slider off in the first heat and held her lead until Bujnowski pushed off from starting spot number seven. The Canadian took over, .94 ahead of Tejeck, and over a second ahead of anyone else going into the second heat.
In that second heat Voss, who was sixth coming into the heat, took the lead with a slide over a second quicker than her first, unseating Thailand’s Agnese Campeol. She held that lead as USA’s Emily Bradley, Latvia’s Amelija Kotane, and South Korea’s Yooran Kim all failed to match her second heat downtime.
Tejcek’s second slide was quicker than her first, but still unable to compete with Voss’s second effort, but was enough to guarantee herself a medal with only Bujnowski to come.
Bujnowski was the only pilot who could match Voss’s speed in Park City in the single-seater. Her second downtime was .2 quicker than Voss’s and enough to win by 1.6 seconds over her teammate, with Tejcek a full two seconds back in third.
Kim took fourth, with Bradley fifth and Kotane sixth.
Campeol was seventh, Jamaica’s Adanna Johnson eighth and Tunisia’s Sophie Ghorbal and Beya Mokrani in ninth in tenth.
