The Italian champion once again slid to gold in Laas. In the first heat she slid to a half second advantage over teammate Daniela Mittermair, with only Austria’s Riccarda Ruetz also within a second.

In the second heat, Nadine Staffler slid to the lead, a lead she would hold after Riccarda Ruetz couldn’t quite match her first slide time. Mittermair was nex, and while she wasn’t able to match Staffler’s downtime, her first run’s time was enough to keep her ahead of her teammate.

Lanthaler’s second slide was .21 faster than her first, and nearly a full second faster than anyone else as she won her 31st straight World Cup race and her 42nd in the last 43.

The win also was Lanthaler’s 54th, which leaves her one win behind record holder Ekaterina Lavrenteva.

Mittermair finished second, and Staffler third to give Italy a sweep on Italian ice.

Ruetz missed a medal by .27 in fourth, with Jenny Castiglioni rounding out the top five for Italy.

The United States’ Katie Cookman missed out on a top ten by one spot in 11th.

Three races into the 2024/2025 World Cup season, Evelin Lanthaler leads Daniela Mittermair by 75 points. Tina Unterberger is third, with Riccarda Ruetz and Nadine Staffler fifth.
