From Igls, AUT
(December 20, 2024) – Germany’s Charlotte Candrix ended her 2023/2024 Europe Cup season with a victory in Igls. Ten months later, she opened her 2024/2025 Europe Cup two-woman season with another victory.
Australia’s Bree Walker and Kiara Reddingius led after the first heat, up .11 over Candrix and Lena Brunnhübner. In the second heat, on a slowing track, Candrix drove to the lead ahead of the previous day’s monobob winner, Maureen Zimmer.
Walker was the final pilot off the top in the second heat. She kept pace with Candrix throughout her second effort but fell behind late and was edged out by just .03 by the German.
Candrix’s victory was the second of her career, while Walker’s silver was her third straight two-woman bobsled medal in Europe Cup action.
Zimmer and Lena Neunecker finished third, Zimmer’s tenth two-woman medal.
Poland’s Linda Weiszewski continued a strong start to her season with a fourth place finish with Klaudia Adamek on her brakes. The duo had the quick start in both heats.
The Swiss team of Debora Annen and Julie Leuenberger slid to fifth place, ahead of teammates Inola Blatty and Noemi Beutler in sixth.
Canada put both of their sleds in the top ten. Erica Voss and Eden Wilson finished ninth, up from tenth in the first heat. Teammates Kristen Bujnowski and Charlotte Ross were edged out by .03 and finished tenth.
Sylvia Hoffman finished 14th with Lauryn Hall on her brakes as the lead American sled. Teammates Riley Tejcek and Andin Fosam finished 17th, up from 19th in the first heat, while Lauren Brzozowski and Macy Tarlton rounded out the top 20.
