(December 7, 2024) – Bianca Ribi and Niamh Haughey slid to victory in the fourth North American Cup two-woman race of the season.
The duo had the fast start in the first heat and took a .11 lead over teammates Kristen Bujnowski and Charlotte Ross, with Americans Lauren Brzozowski and Lolo Jones in third looking to break up a Canadian sweep of the podium.
In the second heat, Brzozowski drove to the lead ahead of Mackenzie Stewart and Morgan Ramsay to guarantee the United States its first women’s bobsled medal of any kind in this North American Cup season.
Bujnowski was the penultimate pilot off the top in the second heat, and was edged out by Brzozowski by .01, putting her in place for a bronze medal.
Ribi was the final pilot to take a run, and while she and Haughey were a bit slower off the top, Ribi’s drive was more than enough to give Canada its fourth straight two-woman bobsled gold and eighth straight between two-woman and monobob.
The gold was also Ribi’s fourth straight to start the season in two-woman bobsled.
Brzozowski’s silver was the first for the United States in the 2024/2025 season, while Bujnowski’s bronze was her seventh straight medal between the two disciplines this season.
Mackenzie Stewart and Morgan Ramsay finished fourth for Canada, with Sin-Rong Lin and Wei-Ching Chang fifth for Taiwan. Emily Bradley and Hannah Cunningham rounded out the top six.
At the halfway point of the 2024/2025 North American Cup two-woman bobsled season, Bianca Ribi leads Kristen Bujnowski by 64 points. Erica Voss is third and Mackenzie Stewart fourth. Agnese Campeol is fifth.
