From Park City, USA
(December 6, 2024) – The comeback trail continued for Kendall Wesenberg on Friday as she slid to her third straight North American Cup victory, this time in Park City.
Wesenberg slid to a commanding 1.06 second lead over teammate Hannah Gaskins in the first heat, with Columbia’s Laura Vargas and the US Virgin Islands’ Katie Tannenbaum in fourth.
In the second heat, Tannenbaum put down a run consistent with her first, more than enough to take the lead from USA’s Lisel Baker, a lead she held after both Vargas’ and Gaskins’ runs.
That left Kendall Wesenberg to go. The two-time World Cup medalist was once again clean and quick on her way to putting down the two quickest runs of the race on her way to victory, with Tannenbaum second and the United States’ Sha’Londa third.
Tannenbaum’s silver was her third straight medal on the North American Cup tour, while the bronze for Terry was the first of her career.
Gaskins and teammate Liesel Baker finished tied for fourth, both career-bests, while Vargas finished tied for sixth with American Logan Wudi.
Five Canadians rounded out the field. Madeline Parra finished ninth and Emily Bateman tenth, both in their first North American Cup races. Mackenzie Adams finished 11th, with Nicole Jones and Julia Hamilton in 12th and 13th in their first races.
