Sandra Kirasis has long been the standard-bearer for German bobsledding, but hasn’t seen a gold medal in two seasons. Today she’ll go into the second heat just .08 out of a gold. The tough part, of course, is that she’ll have to beat Kaillie Humphries. Humphries will once again go into the second heat as the leader, and the Canadian has yet to be beat in that situation. Anja Schneiderheinze makes it two German sleds in the top 3, with USA’s Jazmine Fenlator and Germany’s Cathleen Martini rounding out the top five. Great Britain’s Paula Walker is sixth after Heat 1.
Consistent runs across the board for the Americans, with Elana Meyers and Jamie Greubel both solidly in the top 10, with Meyers 8th and Greubel 9th. The 2012 World Champion brakewoman Jennifer Ciochetti sits 14th in the second Canadian sled, while Victoria Olaoye will go into the second heat 15th.
