(December 1, 2024) – China’s Guanshuo Wang cruised to victory in the final race of the 2024/2025 Asian Cup season.
Wang took the lead from the final starting spot in the first heat, putting .28 between herself and Korea’s Sujung Hong.
In the second heat Hong was quicker than anyone else to take the lead with just Wang to go. Wang, though, was by far quicker than anyone else as she was 1.31 seconds faster in Run 2 to take the win by 1.59 over Hong.
Korea’s Yeeun Chung finished third, with teammate Minji Kim fourth. Vietnam’s Khanh Nguyen rounded out the five sled field.
With giant fields in the first two races paying maximum points, and smaller fields in the remainder paying less, the top four athletes in the Asian Cup came from those first two races. With that, Nicole Silveira wins her second season points title. She finished tied with teammate Kim Meylemans, but wins the overall season with the tiebreaker of “best finish in the most recent race”. Kim Meylemans finishes the season in second place, with Anna Fernstädt third and Kimberley Bos fourth.
Guanshuo Wang was the top junior and also the top finisher who competed in over half of the events in fifth.
