Austin Remains Perfect in NAC Action

From Whistler, CAN

(November 26, 2024) – Taylor Austin remained perfect on the North American Cup tour to start the 2024/2025 season as he held off Brazil’s Edson Bindilatti in the second four-man race of the season.

Austin had the two fastest downtimes of the race on the strength of two big pushes by his team of Shane Ohrt, Mark Zanette, and Yohan Eskrick-Parkinson. He led teammate Cyrus Gray by just .11 after the first heat, but Gray’s second run was a little sloppy and Gray fell off the podium.

Austin’s second effort was just a hair quicker than his first as he won his fourth gold in four races between two-man and four-man.

Bindilatti took silver, his best finish this season in either two or four-man bobsled. The four-time Olympian trailed by .3 after the first heat, and while his second run was nearly two tenths slower, it was still more than enough to give him second place.

Jay Dearborn finished third, over a second ahead of the United States’ Grady Mercer in fourth. Gray finished fifth, with Australia’s Cam Scott rounding out the top six.

The IBSF North American Cup bobsled tour heads to Park City in one week’s time for races three and four on the season.
