From Yanqing, CHN
(November 24, 2024) – China’s Yanqi Zhu cruised to victory on home ice in Yanqing, beating the field by over a full second.
Zhu took a .94 second lead over teammate Guanshuo Wang into the second heat. On that second run Wang was able to take the lead from Korea’s Minji Kim. But Zhu was another .31 quicker than Wang on her second effort to win by 1.25.
The gold for Zhu is her first IBSF international race victory on her home track. She’d previously won in Pyeongchang earlier in this season.
Wang took silver, and Kim bronze.
Korea’s Yeeun Chung finished fourth, and Vietnam’s Khanh Nguyen fifth.
