Voss Leads Canadian NAC Monobob Podium Sweep

From Whistler, CAN

(November 23, 2024) – For the second time in as many days Canada swept the women’s monobob podium in Whistler. However, the race saw a new gold medalist crowned.

Erica Voss had a pair of quick starts which were matched with the quick run in each heat on her way to her first career gold medal in the driver’s seat.

Voss led teammate Kristen Bujnowski by .29 after the first heat, with Bianca Ribi, the first race’s winner, another .11 back in third.

The second run saw Ribi hold her spot, only to be picked off by a tenth fo a second by Bujnowski.

That left Voss with one run and a little over 55 seconds between herself and her first gold. Her start time matched her first run, and while the second effort was a bit slower, it was quicker than anyone else’s by over .2, more than enough to give Voss her first gold.

Bujnowski took silver, while Ribi rounded out the Canadian sweep wiith a bronze.

The United States’ Lauren Brzozowski kept Canada from sweeping the top four with a fourth place effort, just ahead of Mackenzie Stewart in fifth.

USA’s Riley Tejcek rounded out the top six.

Leanna Garcia had a pair of top five starts on her way to a seventh place finish for Spain with Jamaica’s Adanna Johnson and Thailand’s Agnese Campeol rounding out the top nine.
