(November 23, 2024) – Wengang Yan took the rest of the men’s Asian Cup field to the woodshed on Saturday with a massive win in the men’s skeleton race.
Yan out-slid everyone by at least .61 in both heats on his way to a 1.26 second victory over teammate Guoqing Yu. Nobody else was within two seconds of the Olympic bronze medalist.
Yan’s victory was his second in three races.
China took the top five spots in the field, with Zhongxu Lin in third place, 2.45 seconds off the lead. Ruojun Zheng and Junbiao Yang rounded out the top five.
Taiwan’s Chun-Hung Chiang was the top athlete not from mainland China in sixth place.
Malaysia’s Jonathan Yaw finished eighth, one spot ahead of Canada’s Ryan Kuehn in ninth. Brayden Posyluzny finished 16th as the second Canadian in the field.
