Ribi Leads Canadian NAC Monobob Sweep

From Whistler, CAN

(November 22, 2024) – The 2024/2025 IBSF North American Cup kicked off in Whistler with the first women’s monobob race of the IBSF season, and saw Canada sweep on their home ice.

Bianca Ribi carried a .1 second lead over Kristen Bujnowski after the first heat, with Erica Voss and USA’s Riley Tejcek the first non-Canadian in fourth.

The second heat saw Mackenzie Stewart throw down a quick run to take the lead from sixth, a position she would hold for three runs until Voss took over.

The remaining slider off the top was Ribi. Her second run wasn’t quite as quick as Voss’s, but was just enough to hold her teammate off as Ribi won by a hundredth of a second.

The win for Ribi was her first in North American Cup monobob action. She’d won her first World Cup event in the discipline in Whistler. The silver for Voss and the bronze for Stewart were both career bests for the two athletes, with Voss’s silver coming previously in Whistler while Stewart took bronze in Park City.

Tejcek was the top American in fourth place. Leanna Garcia was Spain’s first ever monobob pilot and finished fifth, just ahead of Latvia’s Amelija Kotane who rounded out the top six.

Thailand’s Agnese Campeol and Adanna Johnson of Jamaica rounded out the eight women who put down times for both heats.
