Alexander Zubkov lost his fifth race of the season and “only” took home a silver. After taking week 6 off to train in St. Moritz, the Russian seems to be back in form as he’s got the lead after Heat 1. Three German sleds sit right behind him, with 4-man specialist Max Arndt .06 back, and Thomas Florschuetz and Manuel Machata stacked up right behind that. Two-man winner, Canadian Lyndon Rush, is tied for fifth with Oskars Melbardis.
Much like two-man yesterday, American Steven Holcomb had a very clean run but the speed just wasn’t there. In turn, the defending world champion sits 8th. Teammate Cory Butner has had his troubles this season in four-man, but is safely in the second heat after a clean run in 15th. Nick Cunningham had a massive skid through the chicanes, and will finish tied for 21st with Canada’s Chris Spring. Spring’s teammate, Justin Kripps, makes the second heat, currently tied for 12th. John Jackson is on the other side of that tie for 12th after having a tough go of it in two-man. Countryman Lamin Deen continues to learn and get better, today finishing 23rd.
