From Königssee, Germany
Last season Martins Dukurs lost exactly once, on the icy slope of Königssee. Having already gotten his one loss out of the way this year, Dukurs took out last year’s frustration on the field. He finishes a half second ahead of Frank Rommel. The German won in Königssee last year, but will settle for silver, just ahead of Alexander Tretjyakov. The Russian about flipped mid-run but still outraced Alexander Kroeckel, who finishes fourth. Tomass Dukurs finishes fifth.
American John Daly got the run he had been looking for in the first heat, putting down a time over .4 faster than his first run. Daly was rewarded with a T-11th place finish, while teammates Matt Antoine and Kyle Tress finish 17th and 21st, respectively.
With an even bigger run than John Daly, Dominic Parsons of Great Britain scored his first career World Cup top 10, jumping from 15th after Heat 1 to 7th after Heat 2. Kristan Bromley takes 18th, with Ed Smith one spot behind in 19th. Jon Montgomery looks like he’s finally found his mid-season form, and the Canadian finishes 6th after two consistant runs. Teammate Eric Neilson joins him in the top 10 in 8th, while John Fairbairn scores 15th.
