(February 18, 2024) – Matthias and Peter Lambacher took the final gold medal of the 2023/2024 FIL Natural Track World Cup season, and with it the season title.
Peter and Dominik Neupauer slid to the lead ahead of Bine Mekina and Simon Dietz, and held that lead after Tobias Paur and Andreas Hofer had issues late in their run, putting the Slovakian duo into the medals with two teams to go.
Maximilian Pichler and Nico Edlinger out-slid the Slovakians by just over a second with only the Lambachers to go.
The Lambachers set the quick start time of the race, and had the fast split at every point down the Austrian track on their way to a gold medal by .82 over Pichler and Edlinger.
The gold for the Lambachers was their fifth in seven races and enough to take the season title ahead of Pichler and Edlinger. Paur and Hofer finished the season in third, 25 points ahead of the Neupauers in fourth, with Mekina and Dietz rounding out the top five.
