2012/2013 FIBT World Cup – Round 7 – Women’s Skeleton – Heat 1

From Königssee, Germany

The snow has picked up mightily from the women’s bobsled run earlier in the day.  With that, the track’s been iffy, at best, and times have suffered for some.  Sarah Reid leads Noelle Pikus-Pace by .03 going into the second, likely snowy heat.  German Sophia Griebel sits just ahead of her two teammates Marion Thees and Anja Huber.  The races have seen snow billowing out behind sliders if they’re even slightly off-line.

American Katie Uhlaender was first off today and her time suffered for it. She’ll go into the second heat in 11th place.  Mellisa Hollingsworth and Cassie Hawrysh are 6th and 13th for Canada.  Shelley Rudman sits 7th for Great Britain, while a bumpy, snow-filled run for Lizzy Yarnold leaves her  tied for 16th.
