From Lake Placid, USA
(March 10, 2024) – As she did on Saturday, Kaysha Love slid to the quick time in both heats and won handily in the North American Cup two-woman bobsled finale in Lake Placid.
Love and Azaria Hill opened up a .84 second lead over France’s Margot Boch and Noemie Desailly after the first heat, with Inyoung Park and Siyeon Choi in third, over a full second back.
The second run saw the American duo again throw down the quick start of the heat, and once again had Love out-slide everyone by at least a half of a second on their way to Love’s fourth gold medal in as many races on the 2023/2024 North American Cup season.
The margin of victory was 1.49 seconds.
France’s Boch had a bit of a bumpy second run but held on for a silver medal, while Park took bronze.
Riley Tejcek and Sydney Milani finished in fourth, two seconds behind Love. teammates Sylvia Hoffman and Macy Tarlton had the second quick push in both heats on their way to a fifth place finish, while Great Britain’s Adele Nicoll and Maddison Illsley rounded out the top six.
Erica Voss and Leanna Garcia finished seventh as the top Canadian team, with teammates Mackenzie Stewart and Caelan Brown one spot back in eighth. Kristen Bujnowski and Brittney Bult took ninth to round out the Canadian effort.
USA’s Emily Bradley and Hannah Cunningham finished tenth.
Melissa Lotholz did not start the season finale, but still took home the NAC two-woman title. Sylvia Hoffman finished the season in second place, 48 points back. Despite breaking her foot in Europe and being unable to compete in the final two races, Lauren Brzozowski finished the year third overall. Erica Voss and Riley Tejcek rounded out the top five in the year’s standings.
