(March 9, 2024) – Kaysha Love slid to gold in the penultimate race of the 2023/2024/ IBSF North American Cup two-woman bobsled season, well ahead of the remainder of the field.
Love and brakewoman Sydney Milani were out-pushed by only France’s Margot Boch and Melissa Huet in the first heat, but slid to a .16 second advantage over South Korea’s Yooran Kim and Imyoung Park.
In the second heat, Kim slid to the lead ahead of Canada’s Melissa Lotholz with only Love still to slide. Love and Milani pushed .13 quicker in their second run, the quickest start of the competition, and Love easily drove the pair to a gold medal ahead of Kim and Lotholz.
Love’s gold medal was her third straight on the NAC two-woman season.
Kim’s silver came in her first NAC start of the year, while Lotholz’s bronze made it six medals in seven NAC two-woman races this season.
Boch and Huet had top two pushes in each heat on their way to a fourth place finish, .08 ahead of the United States’ Riley Tejcek and Macy Tarlton in fifth. USA’s Sylvia Hoffman and DeAndra Greer rounded out the top six.
Canada’s Erica Voss and Leanna Garcia had the fifth quickest start in the second heat on their way to a seventh place finish, just ahead of Great Britain’s Adele Nicoll and Maddison Illsley in eighth. Canada’s Mackenzie Stewart and Caelan Brown were ninth, ahead of Kristen Bujnowski and Brittney Bult in tenth.
USA’s Emily Bradley and Hannah Cunningham rounded out the eleven sled field.
As she did in monobob, Melissa Lotholz has clinched the North American Cup title a race early, up 122 points with one race to go. Sylvia Hoffman is second overall with Lauren Brzozowski third, Erica Voss fourth and Riley Tejcek fifth.
