(February 10, 2024) – Germany’s Lukas Nydegger wrapped up the Europe Cup season title with a victory in the season finale in Igls.
Nydegger led by .39 over teammate Stefan Röttig after the first heat, with China’s Wenqiang Geng and Jing Zhang in third and fourth respectively.
The second heat saw Zhang leapfrog Geng to move into the medals with the two Germans to go.
Röttig held serve by .02 over Zhang with just Nydegger to go. Nydegger’s second slide, while not quite as quick as his first, was still faster than anyone else’s effor tin either heat on his way to a .8 second victory over Röttig.
Zhang finished third.
Geng took fourth, ahead of Laurence Bostock of Great Britain in fifth while Italy’s Pietro Drovanti rounded out the top six.
Kane Densley put a second British sled in the top ten with a ninth place effort, while teammate Patrick Atkin finished 13th.
USA’s Nick Tucker, for the second time in as many races, finished tied for 14th. Darryl Payne finished 25th and Sam Allred 32nd to finish out the American effort.
The Germans swept the top three in the season standings, with Lukas Nydegger beating out Cedric Renner and Stefan Röttig. Wenqiang Geng and Laurence Bostock rounded out the top five.
