From Altenberg, Germany
An incredibly quick second run by Manuel Machata moves him from fifth after Heat 1 to a silver medal position. Thomas Florschuetz takes bronze, as Oskars Melbardis couldn’t duplicate his first run, falling back to fourth. On the flip side of that, Jan Vrba has a career best set of runs, and finishes fifth for the Czech Republic. Canadian Lyndon Rush takes sixth.
Great Britain’s John Jackson’s second heat started a bit bumpy, which scrubbed off enough speed to drop him two spots back from his first heat into 11th.
The American, Russian and Swiss teams all sat this weekend out, choosing to train in Switzerland in preparation for the 2013 World Championships.
