2012/2013 FIBT World Cup – Round 6 – Women’s Skeleton – Heat 1

From Altenberg, Germany

It wouldn’t be Altenberg without some tremendously bad weather. Normally it’s snow, but today it’s been rain.  Despite the weather, American World Champion Katie Uhlaender sits atop the leaderboard after Heat 1.  A strong push and clean run through the rain leaves her .17 ahead of last year’s Altenberg winner, German Anja Huber.  Teammate Marion Thees is behind Huber in third, with Noelle Pikus-Pace sitting fourth, but only .11 outside a silver medal.  British standout Elizabeth Yarnold is currently fifth.

Canadians Mellisa Hollingsworth, Cassie Hawrysh and Sarah Reid are sixth, seventh and 13th respectively.  A very under the weather Shelley Rudman is ninth, and teammate Donna Creighton will go into Heat 2 in 15th.
