From La Plagne, France
It’s a Martins Dukurs world and everyone else is just living in it. Dukurs wins in La Plagne by over Alexander Tretjyakov. Tretjyakov hit most anything he could find on his way down, and barely hangs on to beat Tomass Dukurs, who finishes in the bronze medal spot. Martins Dukurs sets the fast time in both heats and wins easily over the Russian. Sergei Chudinov finishes fourth while Alexander Kroeckel and Kristan Bromley round out the top 6.
“This was a pretty tough race, because a lot is up to sliding. It was a tough week with not so good runs in training,” Martins Dukurs said on his win. Dukurs has won all but two events since December of 2010.
The American men all drop spots from their first runs, as Matt Antoine finishes 7th, John Daly T-9th, and Kyle Tress 15th. Eric Neilson led the way for Canada with an 8th place finish, while Jon Montgomery and John Fairbairn finish T-9th and 13th, respectively. For the Brits, Bromley finishes 6th, while Ed Smith leaves La Plagne in 14th and Dominic Parsons 16th.
