From Sigulda LAT
(December 17, 2023) – Alex Czudaj led a German sweep of the tw0-man bobsled podium in Sigluda.
Czudaj was at the front of a tight top four ater one run, with Nico Semmler, Hans Peter Hannighofer, and Laurin Zern all within .08 and everyone else well back from fifth on back.
In the second heat Zern took the lead, but was quickly bumped by Hannighofer. Semmler’s second run was quick, but not as quick as Hannighofer’s and he fell one spot back, .06 behind.
Czudaj’s second run was .01 slower than Hannighofer’s, but still eough to win gold. Hannighofer finished second, just .05 back while Semmler was third, .11 back.
Zern finished in fourth, just .16 out of the lead.
Switzerland’s Timo Rohner was the top non-German, the Swiss pilot finished fifth in both heats, eventually .86 back.
Great Britain’s John Stanbridge finished sixth, while teammate Joshua Hudson finished 10th.
