(December 16, 2023) – Laurin Zern and Alexander Schaller edged out teammates Alex Czudaj and Jörn Wenzel for gold in Sigulda by the very slimmest of margins.
Zern trailed Hans Peter Hannighofer by .02, with Czudaj back in third, only .09 back.
In the second heat it was Czudaj with the quick downtime of the heat, but it was nearly matched by Zern, with Zern taking the lead by just .01.
Hannighofer had trouble late and fell not just out of the lead, but out of the medals, .11 behind Nico Semmler and Max Neumann, who finished third.
Zern’s gold was his first in Europe Cup.
Swiss pilot Timo Rohner finished fifth, ahead of Great Britain’s John Stanbridge in sixth.
Stanbridge’s teammates Joshua Hudson and Adam Baird finished 12th and 13th to round out the British effort.
