(December 16, 2023) – Germany’s Diana Filipszki slid to a gold medal in Sigulda Latvia, ahead of Belgium’s Kelly van Petegem and Australia’s Sarah Blizzard.
Filipszki opened up a .2 second lead on the technical track after one run, with van Petegem and Romania’s Georgeta Popescu within a quarter of a second.
Filipszki’s second run, while not as good as her first, was more than enough to win gold, her first on the Europe Cup tour.
Kelly van Petegem won silver, her second on Europe Cup monobob, while Australia’s Sarah Blizzard won bronze on the strength of the second quickest run of the second heat.
Czechia’s Patricia Tajcnarova finished fourth, while Popescu finished fifth and Switzerland’s Debora Annen rounded out the top six.
