From Lillehammer, NOR
(December 5, 2023) – Hans Peter Hannighofer and his team had the two quickest pushes of the race in Lillehammer on their way to their first four-man gold medal of the season.
Team Hannighofer slid to second place after the first heat, only .02 behind teammate Alexander Czudaj, with a third German sled piloted by Laurin Zern in third only .09 back.
On the second heat Hannighofer put down a second run time .09 quicker than his first to take the lead with only Czudaj to go. Czudaj’s team picked up .05 off the top from their first start, and while his drive was solid it wasn’t enough to keep ahead of Hannighofer, handing Hannighofer the victory.
The gold for Hannighofer was his first of the season.
Czudaj and Zern finished second and third to give Germany a sweep of the podium, with a fourth German sled piloted by Nico Semmler in fourth, only .01 out of the medals.
Swiss pilot Timo Rohner finished fifth, ahead of Austria’s Jakob Mandlbauer in sixth.
Adam Baird scored his first top ten in four-man of the season with a ninth place finish. Teammate John Stanbridge finished two spots back in 11th.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Axel Brown finished 14th.
