From Park City, USA
(December 2, 2023) – Moritz Jager and Valentin Steudte slid to their second straight victory as they edged out the United States’ Marcus Mueller and Ansel Haugsjaa for gold.
The German duo had the quick time after one heat, but had the Americans hot on their tail going into Run 2. On that second run the Americans put down the best slide of the heat to take the lead with only the German duo to go.
Jager and Steudte, as they had all weekend, found themselves behind off the top, but unlike in other heats they weren’t able to entirely bridge the gap early in the run. Instead, their’ second run was the second quickest but just enough to hold back the Americans by just .019.
Aside from the narrow time gap, the results of the Saturday race were identical to the ones earlier in the week, with Jager and Steudte beating Mueller and Haugsjaa , with Germany’s Pascal Kunze and Max Trippner in third.
Ukraine’s Vadym Mykyievych and Bohdan Babura finished fourth, with Logan Barnes and Gavin Davis fifth.
