From Park City, USA
(December 2, 2023) – Germany’s Timo Grancagnolo slid to victory in Park City, holding off a pair of Americans for top honors.
Grancagnolo opened up a .047 lead over the United States’ Matthew Greiner after the first heat, with Germany’s Marco Leger and USA’s Aiden Mueller both in the hunt for gold as well.
In the second heat, Mueller leapfrogged Leger to move into the lead with only Greiner and Grancagnolo, solidifying his first medal of the 2023/2024 season.
Greiner was the penultimate slider off the top and easily slid into the lead by .17 over his teammate Mueller go give him his best finish of the two races in Park City.
The final slider of the day was Grancagnolo, who was a tick slower off the top but otherwise matched his first run effort to slide to victory by .146 over Greiner, with Mueller back in third.
Leger, the previous day’s winner finished fourth, while Canada’s Dylan Morse moved up from sixth in the first heat to finish fifth.
The United States’ third slider, Logan Barnes, finished ninth.
