From Park City, USA
(December 1, 2023) – Embyr-Lee Susko won her first Junior World Cup gold medal with a commanding performance in Park City.
Susko had the quickest time in both heats. In the first run she opened up a .2 second advantage over Germany’s Melina Fabienne Fischer, with Fischer’s teammate Alina Brautigam in third.
On the second run, Austria’s Dorothea Schwarz put down a great effort to move into the lead, a lead that would hold past both Fischer and Brautigam’s runs, leaving her the leader with only Susko to go.
Susko’s second run was nearly as good as the first, as she ended up with the quickest run in both heats on her way to a .420 second victory over Schwarz.
Brautigam finished third only .007 from silver.
Fischer finished fourth, .012 ahead of USA’s Emma Erickson in fifth.
Canada’s Midori Holland finished sixth, with teammate Jolie Brodylo in ninth.
The United States put two sliders in the top ten with Sophia Gordan in tenth. Teammates Delaney Duncan and Macey Schomaker finished 11th and 12th.
Great Britain’s Tehya Baylis finished 13th, with Canadian veteran Caitlin Nash 14th after a disappointing first run.
