From Park City, USA
(November 30, 2023) – Marco Leger slid to victory in the Junior World Cup opener in Park City, edging out teammate Timo Grancagnolo for top honors.
Leger had the quick start in both heats, and led at every split in both runs on his way to a .15 second victory over German teammate Grancagnolo.
Grancagnolo’s two runs were the second quickest in each heat, and enough to hold off a trio of North Americans to give Germany a one-two finish.
American Matthew Greiner was the top non-German with a third place finish, .281 off the pace set by Leger. Greiner’s deficit was almost entirely from the top, where he was combined .254 behind the winner.
American Aiden Mueller finished the race in fourth, well ahead of Canada’s Theo Downey, who rounded out the top five.
Dylan Morse put two Canadians in the top ten in seventh.
The FIL Junior World Cup will hold one more race in Park City before heading north to Whistler.
