From Lake Placid, USA
(March 26, 2023) – Mystique Ro once again dominated in the North American Cup as she took gold by well over a second ahead of a pair of strong British sliders.
Ro took a half second lead over Amelia Coltman, with Freya Tarbit in third as the only other slider within a second of Ro.
In the second heat Tarbit and Coltman held their positions, with Coltman leading with Ro to go. Off the top Ro was once again quickest as she had been the first three heats of the weekend, and once again she had the quick time at every split on her way to a 1.32 second victory over Coltman, with Tarbit the only other slider within two seconds of Ro.
USA’s Michelle Toukan finished fourth, while Canada’s Natalie Coughlin and Tirza Lara in fifth and sixth respectively.
USA’s Logan Wudi finished seventh, ahead of Malta’s Shannon Galea in eighth and Karuna Paenmuek of Thailand in ninth.
Tirza Lara’s sixth place finish was enough to give her the North American Cup title, eight points ahead of teammate Natalie Coughlin. Shannon Galea finished the year third overall.
