Pigneter and Clara took the lead in the one-heat race as the penultimate team to go down. The Lambachers were the final team down, and the first half of their run down the Austrian track looked to be a gold-winning slide. However late in their run one rough corner dropped them out of contention for the top spot and placed them second, well ahead of Slovenia’s Matevz Vertelj and Vid Kralj.

Italy’s Anton Gruber Genetti and Hannes Unterholzner rounded out the four-sled field.

With one race to go in the World Cup season, Pigneter and Clara trail Lambacher and Lambacher by 30 points. The Lambachers will need to have major problems, however, to lose the overall title as they currently hold the tiebreaker over Pigneter and Clara.
