(January 27, 2023) – Arturs Klots cruised to victory in Igls, dominating an otherwise tight field of sliders.
Klots’s first run was only .09 quicker than Germany’s Nikolai Johann, with Great Britain’s Corie Mapp only a tenth back in third.
On the second run both Mapp and Johann failed to match their first run downtime, but Mapp was able to pull ahead of Johann by just .03.
While Klots’s second run was not quite the speed of his first, he was the only slider to go below 57 seconds on his second run as he cruised to a .35 second victory over Mapp, with Johann in third, .38 back.
Guillermo Castillo, the previous day’s winner, finished fourth, while Swiss pilot Jonas Frei and Latvia’s Alvils Brants tied for fifth.
