From Bludenz, AUT
(December 17, 2022) – Germany’s Melina Hänsch won the women’s Youth A luge event held in Bludenz, leading a Germany sweep of the podium.
Hänsch set the quick time in both heats on her way to a .24 second victory over Laura Koch. Koch held off Helena Trampe, as Trampe got within .003 of Koch but couldn’t quite overtake her teammate.
Austria took the next three spots on their home track, with Lina Bleiner beatig out Lena Zimmermann and Annina Grundböck.
Theresa Prehn was the top American in 14th place, up from 18th in the first heat. Elizabeth Kleinheinz and Macey Schomaker finished 18th and 20th to put three sleds in the top 20, while Brianna Gosnell finished 22nd in her first trip to Europe.
Talia Tonn crashed in her first run and did not finish.
