Germany Wins Team Relay Opener

(December 10, 2022) – Germany slid to victory in the first Team Relay of the 2022/2023 FIL World Cup season, edging out a speedy Latvian team for gold.

Germany was the last team down the 2010 Olympic track, with Julia Taubitz opening up an early lead for her country. Felix Loch kept the team within reach of the lead, with Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken putting a smooth run down to win gold.

It was the 44th Team Relay gold medal for Germany. The remainder of the world has 28 wins.

Latvia finished with a silver medal, well ahead of anyone else. Austria, led by a great slide by Juri Gatt and Riccardo Schöpf, finished with a bronze medal.

Italy finished fourth, just ahead of the United States in fifth. Poland rounded out the field in sixht.
