(December 9, 2022) – Nadia Falkensteiner and Annalena Huber won their first gold medal of the 2022/2023 season on Friday, beating out a pair of Latvian teams for top honors.
The Italians opened up a sizeable lead after one heat over the team of Marta Robezniece and Kitija Bogdanova. On the second run Robezniece and Bogdanova were leapfrogged by Viktorija Ziedina and Selina Zvilna, as the latter team set the quick run of the competition on their second trip down.
Falkensteiner and Huber didn’t have to be the fastest on the second run, but they were plenty quick enough to win by over .2 for gold in their first start of the season.
Ziedina and Zvilna finished second for their second straight medal, while Robezniece and Bodanova took bronze for their second straight medal as well.
Germany grabbed the next two spots, with Storch and Reitmeier and Krause and Matschina finishing fourth and fifth, while Riedl and Lerch rounded out the top six.
