(December 4, 2022) – Below are the results from the first Sprint World Cup of the season, held in Igls following the World Cup event.
Women’s Doubles
Selina Egle and Lara Kipp defeneded their World Cup opening victory with a win in the women’s doubles sprint competition. The Austrians edged out Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhofer, who had won bronze earlier in the weekend. Latvians ANda Upite and Sanija Ozolina, who finished fourth in the World Cup event, moved up into third in the sprint.
Summer Britcher and Emily Sweeney finished fourth, ahead of Nadja Falkensteiner and ANnalena Huber, and the American duo of Maya Chan and Reannyn Weiler.

Men’s Doubles
Austria’s Yannick Müller and Armin Frauscher won their second medal of their season, backing up their bronze in the World Cup race with a gold in the Sprint World Cup. They edged out Latvians Martins Bots and Roberts Plume by just .015 to take gold, while Germans Hannes OrlamUünder and Paul Gubitz won their first Sprint World Cup medal with a bronze.
Americans Zach Digregorio and Sean Hollander finished ninth.

Women’s Singles
The women’s luge Sprint podium mirrored the women’s World Cup podium, with Madeleine Egle winning gold on her home ice, edging out USA’s Emily Sweeney by only .019. Germany’s Julia Taubitz finished third, only .01 behind Sweeney and .019 ahead of Austria’s Hannah Prock.
Summer Britcher finished eighth, while Ashley Farquharson finished 13th.

Men’s Sprint
Nico Gleischer backed up his World Cup gold by edging out teammate Wolfgang Kindl to win the Sprint World Cup and give Austria a full sweep of the weekend’s gold medals.
Gleirscher beat out Kindl by just .012, while Italy’s Dominik Fischnaller stood between Austria and another sweep of the podium with a bronze medal.
Austria did take four of the top five spots, with David Gleirscher and Jonas Müller rounding out the top five.
USA’s Jonny Gustafson finished eighth, while Tucker West finished 14th
