From Bludenz, AUT
(December 2, 2022) – Germany’s Stefan Röttig had the quickest start time in both heats and the quickest downtime in both heats on his way to gold in the first European Cup skeleton race in Bludenz.
Röttig’s start times were matched in both heats by Italy’s Marvin Moscara, but the German was quicker than anyone else down the track, setting the two fastest times of the race on his way to a .34 second victory over Italy’s Pietro Drovanti.
Italy had a strong showing on the Austrian track, with Drovanti and Manuel Schwärzer taking silver and bronze behind Röttig. Moscara finished in a tie for fourth with Germany’s Cedric Renner, only .01 out of the medals.
Renner’s teammate, Ludwig Mannhardt, rounded out the top six.
Neither Great Britain nor the United States were able to get anyone into the top ten. For Great Britain, Kane Densley led the way in a tie for 11th with Qinwei Lin of China. Ronnie Wells and Patrick Atkin rounded out the British effort in 14th and 15th, respectively.
Daniel Barefoot was the top American in 16th place, while teammate Hunter Williams finished 26th.
Liechtenstein’s Jean Jacques Buff scored another top ten finish with a ninth place effort.
