(November 22, 2022) – Slovakia’s Viktoria Cernanska won her first career IBSF two-woman gold medal on Tuesday, cruising to victory in Park City.
Cernanska, making only her eighth start in two-woman, had the second quickest start in the first heat alongside brakewoman Lucia Krskova, and was the quickest at the bottom by over .3 seconds. On their second run, the Slovakian duo once again had the quick time, this time by .4 on their way to a .71 second victory over USA’s Lauren Brzozowski.
Brzozowski set the second quickest time in both heats to beat teammate Sylvia Hoffman by .29.
Hoffman and brakewoman Amoni Ashby set the quick start time in the first heat and second quickest in the second to edge teammates Kashay Love and Rylie Mathews, who finished fourth, just .08 out of the medals.
USA’s Maddy Cohen rounded out the five sled field.
Mackenzie Stewart and Kristen Bujnowski were entered into the race but did not start.
