(November 19, 2022) – France’s Margot Boch continued her strong start to the 2022/2023 IBSF season with a gold in the opening two-woman bobsled race.
Boch and brakewoman Carla Senechal had the second quickest start in both heats on their way to a .21 second victory over Germany’s Maureen Zimmer.
Zimmer and Lauryn Siebert had the two quickest starts fof the race, but found themselves .27 behind the French team after the first heat. On the second run they set the quick time of the heat, it wasn’t enough to unseat Boch.
Boch’s gold was her third straight of the week, having won gold in each women’s monobob earlier in the week. For Zimmer, the silver was her third straight medal.
Switzerland’s Martina Fontanive and Kim Widmer moved up from fourth to third on their second run to take bronze.
Germany’s Diana Filipszki finished fourth, with Romania’s Georgeta Popescu in fifth. Poland’s Linda Weiszewski finished a career best sixth in a race of over 10 sleds.
Former British brakewoman Nikki McSweeney finished eighth, while teammate Felicity Bee finished 12th.
